Week 2: Summer, 15 to 30sec with the word Summer
Umika chose the theme this week: “I chose summer beause I thought there would be many different images that can be reffered to a season, and I wanted to see what kind of image everyone would bring up. And now, the season is summer… ”
*Olivier
“For my personnal feelings, summer means sunset, sea and kids. I wanted to show these three elements in 15 seconds and trying to include them all together.”
*Umika
“The image of summer has a lot of things such as ocean, mountain, sun in a blue sky, sunflower, butterflies, fireworks, or kaki-goori. I wanted to put everything of those image in my movie, so I made it as a TV commercial for a camera. “

Week 1 : Coffe 5s to 30s
The thema is simple and yet very wide.
We choose to show only 2 peoples works as it’s an internal project and those were very nice.
*Umika
“I made this video as we can change the text to Shop name or product name. So it can apply to any kind of scene.”
*Alex
“I chose to film people and to stay on the mood of making coffee rather than showing cups and spoon as my feeling toward coffee is that it’s also a social link between people as cigarette and alcohol to me.”

“Do Your Best” Project
A while ago I had the idea to introduce challenges within Wedovideo, in order to stimulate artistic and aesthetic vision for everybody on a personal level.
The idea is simple: every week we take a random theme (or is it really random?), we add conditions, and the next week we review everybody’s work.
It doesn’t have to be the greatest movie of all time, but it’s good to see everyone’s approach on a similar subject and compare the differences.

Our goal in these series is to introduce the most prestigious and famous companies creating videos all around the world.
These studios inspire us in many ways and are a great source of creative thinking in our daily works – We don’t consider them as competitors, but rather as elder brothers, companies that have been in the market for a while and that have lead motion design to its current position.

Wedovideo joined the CCIFJ (Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie Française du Japon) last January. You can now find our page in the 2010 directory.
This membership enables us to meet new French, Japanese but also people from different countries, living and working in Japan.
This membership is not only interesting for the networks and events, but also for the services provided: recruitment, training, directory with very useful references, commercial service and publications.
The CCIFJ has many publications, available in French and Japanese, dealing with very interesting subjects regarding the Japanese market, interviews of CEO etc… Some are periodical: ”L’annuaire des membres”, “France Japon Eco”, “L’Hebdo du Japon” and “La Lettre Mensuelle”, and some exceptional one.
Last month, two articles about Wedovideo were published in “La Lettre Mensuelle”, directed by Gilles de Lesdain. One Edito about firms creation in Japan mentioning Alex’s experience: Création d’entreprises au Japon, la parole aux entrepreneurs (Firms creation in Japan by the entrepreneurs). The other one about Wedovideo itself, as a new member of the CCIFJ: Wedovideo, des vidéos pour la communication en qualité cinéma (Wedovideo, videos for communication in cinema quality).

Today, I am very proud to present you the first part of our new corporate identity documents.
These documents are essential in our office daily life, to send letters, introduce our company to potential clients, keep a privileged link with our clients… We already had some, done by ourselves. But we were looking for a real design and sense research.
That’s why we chose Julien Mercier alias Julmeme, a Swiss Graphic Designer from Tokyo, to create our corporate identity, except for our logo (designed by Niko). Julien did research, design proposal, modifications and printing assistance and it’s very great working with him.
This week we received the envelopes, letterheads and compliment cards from the Hong Kong printer.
But that’s not all, to follow: company folder and presentation leaflet, CD and DVD case, DVD folder and presentation template.
Here is Julmeme’s design proposal:

And here the result:

When working in a business where the work rhythm is quite hectic the second necessary tool in Japan is the coffee machine.
For example, imagine yourself being prepared to leave your office at 7 pm and then you receive the following message: The event report edit you take 3 days to realize has been destroyed by some clients crazy children or whatever you want and you have to reedit it by tomorrow 10 am. When this happens your only feeling is to thank God for inspiring in 1800 its Minister Jean Baptiste de Belloy, Archbishop of Paris, the concept of the first coffee machine.
For sure, even if our Archbishop did not do it on purpose, he ultimately helps thousands of creatives and office workers.
An other example of time when the coffee machine became the savior of the office people is the following day of our editing craziness or late night shooting following day. At those time the sanity of our creative team relies completely on the coffee machine. Everyone is afraid of its possible reactions or dysfunction.
The problem is that even if the taste greatly improves, the risk of failure rose in parallel with technical improvement… and so does the risk of nervous breakdown…
