Through the last number of months theres been a number of staff changes (I just remembered that a lot of these need to be updated on the site), and indeed general company structural changes to boot, with a lot of our people moving on to other pastures. We wish them all the very best in what they are doing too.
As numbers have fluctuated we have recently sought to introduce some new blood and make sure we are running at our best.

First to come through the door will be Nancy Iida, our bright and cheery new office administrator. We our delighted that we have with us someone so genki and ready to support us as we begin the next stage for Wedovideo. We very much look forward to her first day, 24th August.
As you may be asking we have also the advertisement for the project manager. This however is proving to be a bit trickier for us as we are yet still seeking someone who can show the ability and match our culture. We know you’re out there somewhere! Come come!
In the meantime we have a BBQ to look forward to this Friday to sooth the recent heat that is baking Tokyo after a somewhat lack-lustre summer thus far.
Enjoy the sun peeps!
Raymond

I have to admit, when we got the big frozen white polystyrene package coming to the office the other day I couldn’t help but thinking it was a mistake…
And then I saw where it was coming from and I understood.

Blue seal ice cream from Okinawa, our favorite Mama took really good care of us.
Coming directly as a present from my wife’s family, we got all we need to resist a world war class importation blockade. Nearly 40 individual portions !

Knowing my general taste for quality ice cream such as Haagen Dazs, B&J, Cold stone I was a bit worried about the taste I would find in a brand that I had never heard of. But I was not disappointed. As a Haagen Dazs pro active member card user I have to say that the experience is simply different.
While most of today’s brand rely mainly on additional ingredient to pimp their ice, Blue seal remain very calm on this side. One taste, no additional fancy cream, nuts, or whatsoever funky ingredient. Only the main flavor. And that part is probably what makes them different from the other classic flavors you can find everywhere else : the flavor is so strong, I feel more present than in any other ice cream I had the chance to eat so far. Add to that an attractive price point and you got everything a Japanese needs to pass safely the heat of summer.
If the ice was not enough we also got present from our new housekeeper, thousand of calorie from Starbucks, and barbie doughnuts from Tomoko. While I’m not a doughnut professional, I was a bit surprised with the barbie collaboration but I had its effect by pushing everybody to the kitchen, not to eat those, but to take picture of the assortment. (altough in the end, they all got eaten..)
Trying to start a diet, I have to admit all those doesn’t really help….

Apple had invited us to deliver our own seminar at their Ginza store to share how we utilize Apple’s software in our workflow. In response we decided to focus on Apple’s Keynote application as it has been helping us integrate content with audio, video and interactivity for event presentations better than almost all of the other conventional means out there. Yesterday, 16th May, Alex co-presented, for one hour with Ben from Chroma*Fresh, who translated. Let’s not forget the Keynote operation which was handled by Raymond, who designed it.
Without presenting again though, the basic flow saw Alex explaining how we had used Keynote in four case study projects; showing how it simplified everything! In fact, normally events employ costly and numerous intermediary hardware, making set-up unreasonably complex and often leading to lower quality of creative. By comparison using Keynote continues to enable us to produce motion graphics and deliver engaging visuals for large and custom-made screens and projections in vastly easier and more cost effective ways. If you are interested in getting more details about it, do not hesitate to contact us.
We thank the Apple Store, Ginza and especially Noriaki Yamamiya who is the event planner and organizer there. Lastly congratulations to Alex, Ben and Raymond!

Chroma*Fresh is finally there! The three of them with their smile and all their gears.
We took some time to party on the night of their arrival and everybody was there.

Sense and Takayuki from Dada Kingz, and even Nacci, my wife and secret agent with whom all that move and office share would probably never have happened. While not so many people are actually aware of it, Nacci is in fact a founding member of Chroma*Fresh and was also following closely Dada Kingz during the first years of the launch. She’s the one whom introduced me to Ben, the kaiser Sauze of Choma*Fresh to me, and she has slowly put the seed of potential collaboration and office sharing.

Good Job !
The party was also a good opportunity for me to confirm with Mizuno that we were definitely deep animation otaku and that we shared a lot of reference and taste for our inspiration.

Hi everyone, it’s been ten days since we moved into our new office. We are happy to be back in the nice environment of Kotto Dori in Aoyama, and to have such a great place to work in: a big working room, meeting room, admin room, kitchen and a terrace!
But setting up an office in a flat, and actually not in a business building has implications: the rooms, network and power points have not been designed for welcoming many computers and cables!
Thus Alex, Shoji and Yoshi are working on it, building up our network.
Gambatte!

We would first like to express our gratitude and sincere thanks for all the support and cooperation you continue to give us. It is thanks to this contribution that we are able to do the things we love, enabling our work to stand out and drive success for everyone concerned.
Thanks to this success we are glad to inform you that Wedovideo is moving to a more spacious office in the much sought after area of Omotesando. In fact Kotto Dori, as many of you may perhaps know, is where we started, so in a sense we mark a coming of age, and look forward to producing even more, and even better video.

Hi everyone, how are you doing? I just wanted to say a few words, more than one month after the earthquake and its consequences that affected all of us. But as the foreigners kept saying to their relatives overseas, except for the North of Japan of course, life came back to “normal”, as normal as it can be, given this special situation and moments Japan is experiencing
Our intense rhythm in the office continued, and we have always had a lot of work, no project cancellation, or postponement. And as most of Wedovideo’s staff has stayed in Tokyo after the earthquake, we had no consequent “labor shortages”. Daily life continued almost as usual, only shook by recurrent quakes, well-felt on the 10th floor of our building, but no worries!
The projects we have been working on are for clients from various sectors. Such as automotive industry for Mercedes in Shanghai, luxury consumer goods with Chivas’ event in China, high jewelry with Cartier, pharmaceutical industry with our long-term partner, sanofi aventis.
Life is going on, we have still many projects coming. By the way, it will be the occasion to share with you some special techniques we use, some useful tips. To come in our next posts.
As everyone noticed in Tokyo, spring is definitely here, we enjoy it, sakuras are beautiful, and we went to shoot them last Sunday:

Our thoughts are going to people in the North of Japan, who have been much more affected than anywhere else in Japan, by this succession of terrible and unfortunate events.
Keep strong, 幸運, Bon courage

Warp Japan commissioned us to produce a video presenting the Kelvin LED lamp, for FLOS’s newly built mobile site.
We provided the creative, direction, shooting, and editing and Davy Bergier the music.
