THE INDIVIDUALIST(S) a label by Luise&Franck

Tuesday March 30th, 2010 by marie

l+fToday, a quick link to two young fashion designers, Luise Schwarze and Franck Pouchoulin.

They presented the 2010/2011 A/W collection of the brand they created in 2007, THE INDIVIDUALIST(S), on March, 22nd at SHINMAI Creator’s Project, as part of the kick-off of the 10th Japan Fashion Week in Tokyo.

I really liked their men’s and ladies wear collection, presented under the theme “crying light”, which produced, with the music and the models attitude a strong effect.

Now I’m looking forward to buying some of these clothes in Japan…

golf additionals

Today, a basic technique we use in post-production. Sometimes, you realize after you shot that you need more elements for your production. But they are not easy to find on Internet, or expensive to buy.

The solution is very simple and free: you just have to shoot the elements you need and then insert them in the project.

That’s what Olivier did for the golf video. Alex needed close-ups on golf and ball clubs. Olivier shot them in our office on black screen and Alex inserted them in the video.

Very simple, but very useful!

Golf course Shooting and RED ONE camera

Thursday March 25th, 2010 by marie

redToday, let’s talk about a shooting we had recently and which was totally new for us: a shooting of a professional golf player, Yohei Haga, on the Lakewood golf course in Kanagawa, Tokyo.

First, why did we do that? Because it’s a nice challenge, because we like golf. That’s not false. But the main reason is that one of our client needs a video for its Marketing Division Kick-off event. Golf theme was chosen for this internal event, as our client considers that marketing strategy is very close to the golf playing strategy. Setting goals and means to reach them, patience and self-confidence… The purpose of the video is to show a strategic meeting in the head offices, and the results on the course.

There were then 2 parts to shoot. The meeting at the client’s office, with a Panasonic HVX 200, which was very classical and easy for us. Even if it was very hot in the very small room with no window we had to shoot in. I was nicely surprised about the six actors, all senior executives of the company. Before going there, I thought they would be uptight and that it would be difficult for them to go along with the shooting. But I was totally wrong! They were very interested, played the game very well and enjoyed it.

But the most interesting is the shooting of the professional golf player on the course with a RED ONE camera. Alex directed the shooting and Ivan (http://twitter.com/ivankovax) , from Visceralpsyche (http://www.visceralpsyche.com/en/index.html) operated the RED cam. Shooting with RED ONE camera takes more time than with a regular camera, but the result is really great. In fact, the RED ONE has a wider resolution (4K) which enabled us to get a great image of the golf course vast scene. Moreover, its special slow motion, 5 times slower than with regular cameras, gives a more detailed footage on the golf swing scene.

Shooting at the golf course was a great experience as we had vast scene and beautiful colors of the nature. By using RED ONE and thanks to Ivan’s great experience operating it, we expressed the advantage of shooting at this location.

Netgear NAS: The core of the office

nas at 6.05.37 PM

Hello everyone. A quite geeks’ review for today… We will talk about the core of WeDoVideo IT activities: the NAS back-up copy system.

But, for those who do not know, what is a NAS Disk.. It is a set of hardware connected on Xraid 2 protocol. It supports gigabit ethernet for an optimal connection to a LAN through a gigabit ethernet switch. Moreover, there are several options such as customization of the hardwares.

If you connect it to a wifi switch or a time capsule system (we are on the second case) and use a synchronization program you will have the possibility to set up an ubiquitous access to the NAS.

However, the main advantage of the system is its ability to enable work share and collaboration between all the office members. An ubiquitous connection to the office database makes it possible to coordinate the whole company activity and have everyone working on the same files and sharing ideas about every projects management at the same time.
